About SIFA
SIFA was founded in 1992 by a solicitor financial adviser and is the support group for financial advisers who are partly or wholly owned by solicitors or accountants or who have close links with the professions. SIFA is unique among the major IFA support groups in having no product provider shareholding involvement and in being recognised by the FSA as a trade association. SIFA also has a permanent seat on the Financial and Investment Business Working Party of the Law Society of England and Wales; and SIFA’s Compliance Director was previously the head of financial services compliance at the Law Society.
SIFA provides a range of services to its members, including compliance, training, research, marketing and IT, but its main strengths lie in its focus on the needs of professional financial advisers and the support which it provides, via its business and training initiatives, in facilitating interaction between financial advisers, solicitors and accountants. Possibly the best known of these initiatives is Trustinvest, which deals with the subject of investment for trusts. SIFA has also earned a reputation for the quality of its service and the personal care and attention which it devotes to its members.
